This piece is rooted in my long-standing fascination with mycelium—the vast, hidden networks that lie beneath our feet. Inspired by the intricate, organic patterns mycelium creates, Tension in Harmony explores the silent intelligence of nature and the way energy flows and transforms below the surface.
After the passing of my dog, learning about mycelium gave me comfort. I came to understand that nothing is truly lost—his energy simply returned to the earth, becoming part of something far greater, a living network that connects all things. That idea reshaped how I see life, death, and nature.
The top of the canvas is layered with deep black texture, symbolising grounded stillness and finality. Below, rich green and burnt orange tones echo the colours of moss, rust, and fungi—reflecting both decay and rebirth. The painting holds both chaos and calm, like the forest floor: messy, magical, and full of life.
